AFRICA INX
is South Africa's first Independent Network Exchange to bring
Internet access to the market at rates never seen before in South
Africa.
It is completely
independent and has no link or ownership with any of the existing
incumbent telco operators. Its objective is to enable the retail
ISPs to gain low cost access to the Internet, which will enable them
to bring low cost broadband to the South African users, together
with a wide range of converged services like VoIP. Due to the
company's rates and business model, the playing field will be
levelled, giving smaller ISPs the same low cost access to the
Internet that has been enjoyed historically only by the larger Tier
1 ISPs.

Vision
AFRICA INX is committed to helping build a vibrant broadband
industry with many independent service providers, to foster a highly
competitive market so as to achieve affordable, world-class
universal access and a broad take up of the Internet to all South
Africans.
Our business model is based on buying in bulk at the best prices,
keeping red tape and overheads to a minimum, but without
compromising on network and service quality and selling to ISP
equally at low margins.
Ownership
AFRICA INX has been established by skilled professionals with many
years of experience in the ISP industry.
Mike Brierley, who recently left MTN, was the founder and CEO of MTN
Network Solutions for 8 years. He also has 20 years of IT management
experience with major corporations both internationally and locally.
Eduard du Plessis, the founder, CEO and majority shareholder of
Ensync, was also the MD at InfoSat, the first broadband Internet
service provider (via satellite) in SA and has a total of 12 years
experience in the ISP industry and a further 10 years in IT.
AFRICA INX is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ensync Network
Solutions (Pty) LTD, and operates under Ensync's existing ECNS
licence, until such time it has procured the right level of BEE
shareholding and obtained its own I-ECNS and I-ECS licence. Ensync
is an empowered company and its BEE partner is the Kwabantwana Broad
Based Empowerment Trust.
AFRICA INX is a new member of ISPA and is a registered large
member. Through this it is connected to JINX via a 10GE port
connection.
Value Proposition
Freedom of Choice
As is evident from the service offering,
AFRICA INX offers the ISP
choice to build its own business model that suits its needs best.
Lower Rates
The confidential rate card shows savings of more than 50% off the
current rates offered in the market and
AFRICA INX endeavours to
keep these rates very attractive. In addition, the fact that the
entry point is low and the increments are equally low, the ISP can
ensure that its cost structure follows its requirements closely thus
avoiding unnecessary or wasted bandwidth and related cost
Independence
AFRICA INX is not linked to any of the big five and has no
alliance with them. It has no motive to become the same either and
has only one objective and that is to provide access to networks
around the globe in a manner that is attractive and cost-effective
to all.
